2020 Invasive Aquatic Weed Spraying

The Harmony Grove Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to treat the Harmony Grove channels off Lake Wisconsin for selective control of the invasive species Eurasian watermilfoil and curly-leaf pondweed.  This treatment will take place within the 21 acres of the channels.  The District also proposes to treat nuisance native species in the channels as needed for the purpose of navigation.  Cason & Associates, LLC will perform the treatment for Eurasian watermilfoil and curly-leaf pondweed in the spring of 2019 and the treatment of navigational channels likely in July or August 2019. Possible herbicides for treatment of Eurasian watermilfoil and curly-leaf pondweed include Navigate®. Aquathol K®, Aquastrike®, and Tribune®A combination of Cutrine®, Aquathol K® and Reward® will be used for the navigation treatment.  Warning signs will be posted adjacent to treatment areas and at the landing prior to treatment.  Any water use restrictions associated with these chemical can be found on the warning sign, or product label.  The applicant will hold a public informational meeting on the proposed treatment if five or more individuals, organizations, special units of government, or local units of government request one. The person or entity requesting the meeting shall state a specific agenda of topics including problems and alternatives to be discussed. The request for the public informational meeting must be sent in writing to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 3911 Fish Hatchery Road Fitchburg WI  53711 within five days after the public notice is made.
